Collaborative Office Space, Engineering Company

Scope: Tenant Improvement
Size: 140,000 sf
Completion: 2020, Berliner Architects
Project Architect: Mark Hembree

We were asked to redesign the common areas and shared spaces for an engineering firm that wanted to promote collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas between their teams within their traditional office building which tended to isolate the various working groups from one another. Through a series of meetings with user groups, we found that the building lacked employee-centric spaces such as break rooms, and meeting spaces. We proposed options for such amenities and relevant locations within the building that would best suit the employees. This effort resulted in three new spaces of varied scale, designed to encourage collaboration between individuals and teams: the Lounge, the Gallery, and a centrally located break room to be located on each of the floors.
